Today, October 18, is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. This is an opportunity to celebrate the passion, hard work and dedication of WRDSB ECEs and those who work with young children. These educators are crucial in the learning and development of thousands of students across the region.

We are grateful for the continued contribution and commitment that WRDSB educators make in the lives of children. ECEs are crucial in shaping and guiding young minds and complete countless important tasks every single day. Through age-appropriate programming and play-based child-centered learning, ECEs help students reach their highest potential in a safe, equitable and inclusive learning environment.

“October 18, 2022 is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day and on this day and every day we extend our thanks and appreciation to our Designated Early Childhood Educators who are committed to our youngest learners,” says Melissa Hilton, Extended Day Program Manager at the Waterloo Region District School Board. “Thank you for supporting the well-being and learning for children in our care, for building strong relationships with families and for ensuring that children feel a sense of belonging in kindergarten and in Before & After school programs.”

To WRDSB Child Care Workers and ECEs: Your work is valued and appreciated! Thank you for nurturing and teaching our youngest learners during this developmentally critical stage of early life. You make the classroom a safe and welcoming space to learn and grow.
