Principals’ Message                                                                                     

What a tremendous school year—our first as an official HERO school!  We’ve seen such growth in our students and school community as our understanding, modelling and recognition of our HERO traits have deepened. Our staff members have provided a rich and responsive learning environment for your children—we’re truly grateful for their initiative and influence on a daily basis.

We wish our Grade 6 graduates all the best as they transition to new schools for Grade 7.  Graduates, you’ve played such an important part in many key moments this past year as role models and leaders. Thank you for all you have done and for who you are. Please come back to visit and keep us up to date on where you are and how you are doing!

We also say goodbye to some staff members moving to different schools and new opportunities at the end of this school year: Ms. Ganaha, Mrs. Gelbard, Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. K. King, Mr. Shouftas, Ms. Scott, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Todd, Miss Webb, and Mr. Wettlaufer.  You have all been integral to the Forest Hill community, and our students’ success is thanks to your efforts!  We wish you the best in the coming years at your new schools!

We also extend best wishes for retirement to Mrs. Ellacott, Mrs. Holowack and Mrs. Senior. Words alone can’t express our admiration and appreciation for your countless contributions to Forest Hill. We wish you all many happy adventures and memories ahead!

Thank you, parents and caregivers, for the ongoing communication and support that allows us to serve your families each day. We wish everyone a safe and happy summer, and look forward to reconnecting for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 4th.

Important Busing Infomation                                            

Transportation details for the 2018-2019 school year will be available

on Monday, August 20, 2017.

To view your child’s transportation details, visit www.stswr.ca and follow these easy steps:

  • Click on “Student Login”
  • Enter the Ontario Education Number (OEN) found on your child’s report card (numbers only–no spaces, no dashes)
  • Enter your child’s birth date – dd/mm/yyyy
  • Enter your child’s house number
  • Select the school your child is attending from the drop down menu

Please note: any address changes need to be done through your school. If you are moving this summer or change caregiver arrangements for the fall, please communicate the change of address to your child’s school as soon as possible.

 

Welcome to Kindergarten!                                                                      

If you have a child coming to JK or SK at Forest Hill this September, a letter will be sent home letting you know his/her class placement, meeting time and staggered entry dates.  If do not received a letter, please contact the office the last week of August.

 

If your child is eligible to ride the bus, you will receive information from the transportation department in late August.

When class lists are created each year, we strive to have a balance of JK and

SK students, boys and girls, as well as other needs. We also need to adjust classes based

on a few staffing changes within the Kindergarten team. Your child may or may not be placed in their SK classroom with his/her JK teacher and ECE from the previous year, depending on the factors stated above.

Also, while we hope that no further changes will need to be made, we often have new registrations at the beginning of the year, which may require last minute switches.  If that happens, you will be notified as soon as possible.

2018-19 Class Lists                                     

Waterloo Region District School Board is committed to keeping our children safe.  To comply with privacy legislation we are changing the way we communicate elementary students’ home classrooms for September 2018.  Class lists will no longer be posted on the outside windows or doors of the school. More details about how to find your child’s class information will be shared on the school website (fhl.wrdsb.ca) and via School-Day in August.

 

Before and After School Care                                   

We are pleased to offer Before & After School Care Programs for JK-Grade 6 students at Forest Hill P.S effective September 4th, 2018.  Register online at www.wrdsb.ca/beforeafter, or call the Extended Day Program Supervisor at 519-570-0003 ext. 4203.
